ĭespite their graceful appearance and mythical depiction as a symbol of purity, indriks are not to be taken lightly. Indriks are sometimes tamed and used as mounts, although it is considered a privilege for a mortal rider to be borne by these enchanted beasts. Instead, Jephre plants them back into the land to sprout again as fawns. Altmeri folklore holds that when indriks die, their souls don't leave Mundus.

They are revered as blessed beings that are graced by the gods as the Altmer are. High Elven fables depict indriks as creatures of beauty, mystique and perfection. They can also be found in planes of Oblivion such as the Hunting Grounds (where they are hunted for sport), Fargrave, and the Deadlands, though they are not native to those realms. Indriks are herbivores, and graze on grass and trees. Some scholars believe that indriks are not truly of this world, as if they are closer to Aetherius than they are the physical realm. Indriks look like deer that are covered in feathers and fur, have crystalline antlers and four ears. They are also found in small number in relatively close proximity on the Systres Archipelago. They are native and traditionally found roaming the Summerset Isle, though they are very elusive. They seem to draw strength from the bones of the earth beneath their hooves. Indriks are described as regal, majestic and proud creatures that embody the qualities of royalty. Indriks are magical creatures that bear some relation to Jephre.
